Class Levels
INTRODUCTION TO FENCING
We offer two options for adults and teens to get started with fencing:
Individual Lessons – 20 mins one-on-one by appointment
Adventure Workshops – 2 hour intensive during an afternoon or evening
Lessons & Workshops are booked by the session and no club membership is required. Check the schedule below for the next session start date.
Group Footwork & DRILL CLASSES
Our group classes are for students 13 and up with prior fencing experience. These classes are open to all of our members for weekly drop-in and there is no advance booking or additional cost. Contact us for collegiate discounts.
Adventure Workshop for New Fencers
Join us Saturday evening 4-6:30pm
In this fast-tracked 2.5-hour workshop students will learn the history, tactics, rules, and terminology of foil fencing. Basic movement, attacks and defense will be covered and, while this is an active class, every level of fitness is encouraged to attend. The coaches will do their best to ensure that everyone is accommodated. Our goal is for you to love the sport of fencing as much as we do by the end of your first class! All protective equipment and foils are provided. Just bring your curiosity, enthusiasm, and a water bottle. Ages 13-93
Discount for parents/guardians of current WBFC youth and junior program students.
Footwork + Functional
Thursday
- Ongoing Thursday evenings 7:30-8
- Drop-in for current members
Group class for all levels and weapons. Footwork starting slow and simple then ramping up in tempo and complexity. Dynamic, or functional, warm-up increases range of motion to help prevent injury during sparring. For students ages 13+ with basic fencing knowledge. Wear closed-toe athletic shoes. Stay and fence during bouting hours following the class.
3-Weapon Drill
Tuesday + Saturday
- 11:30-12:30 Sat + 7:30-8:30 Tues
- Drop-in for current members
Group drills for intermediate to experienced fencers of all weapons. 3-Weapon Drill class covers footwork and blade tactics, partner drills, and guided bouting for foil, épée, and sabre fencers alike. For ages 13 and up. Bring along standard gear for your preferred weapon. Stay and fence during bouting hours following the class.
